My off-the-canvas painting, “Galaxy,” has been selected for the WA Surface Design Association’s “Fiber Fusion” traveling art exhibition.

About Galaxy:
A Galaxy is a system of millions or billions of stars, with gas and dust, held together by gravitational attraction. "Galaxy,“ the painting, is an expanding, contracting representation of the contentedness of the sky.
The work, is part “Off the Canvas,” a mixed-media, texture painting series. It is created free form with gesso, yarn, and acrylic paint. This style of work challenges the concept/definition of “painting.” Due to its nature, a different painting is formed based on the surroundings, the method of display, (hung on the wall, or suspended) and the observer’s point of view.
About Fiber Fusion:
Fiber Fusion: A Juried Exhibition of Washington State Surface Design Artists.
The traveling exhibition starts in Richland June 2016 then travel to Redmond, Port Townsend and Everett where is ends, April of 2017. Each venue will offer activities and workshops.

The Kirkland Arts Center, and judge, Frederick Holmes, have selected my work, “Throughway,” to be a part of their 2016 KAC Artists’ Exhibition!
About Throughway:
“Throughway” represents the divided passages, which thought quickly travels on, and through.
The work, is part “Off the Canvas,” a mixed-media, texture painting series. The paintings are created free from a canvas, with gesso, yarn, acrylic paint and other material. These paintings challenge the concept/definition of “painting.” Due to its nature, a different painting is formed based on the surroundings, the method of display, (hung on the wall, or suspended) and the observer’s point of view.

Positive Space
Off-the-Canvas paintings. These paintings push the boundaries of what’s considered a painting. They are created pieces of positive space made to create balance and interest with negative space. Which, makes the negative not so negative anymore.
